WISH LIST
You can help us out with donations of many types.
If you grew up in Williamstown or your ancestors came from town, we’d love it if you would share:
- childhood memories relating to family or school life (what were your chores? how were you disciplined? what games did you play? what pranks did you play in school? what did you do that got you in trouble? etc.)
- journals kept by townspeople, preferably describing daily life
- family genealogy (If you are from a family with links to Williamstown and have prepared a family genealogy, we would love a copy for our files. Please highlight the names of the people who are from
Williamstown) - old photographs that show town streets, buildings, people, events or activites (labeled and dated if possible)
- items made in Williamstown (such as a Daniel Porter clock, a quilt or sampler made by a Williamstown resident)
- attic treasures that might include old town directories, receipts from local businesses, minutes from local organization meetings, etc.
If you are uncertain about whether or not what you have would be of interest to us, please email whlh1753@roadrunner.com or call 413 458-2160 and ask. Too much valuable information ends up in landfills around the country when we would be thrilled to have it in our collection.
Beyond items relating to Williamstown, we always welcome
- volunteers If you have an interest in town history and would like to get involved with House of Local History, please contact us.
- financial support of any amount to help us meet the expenses involved in our work
- donations of office equipment periodically. Our needs will be posted below as they arise.
